K Cancer Softball is a travel team that “Competes With Compassion”! When we are not on the softball diamond competing in tournaments at the 11 year old age bracket, we are partnering with the K Cancer Baseball organization in their mission to support local families who are battling childhood cancer!
Did you know that our families whose children are diagnosed with cancer have to travel outside of our community for treatment? This creates a host of challenges that go beyond treatment and hospital bills.
- Who pays for the gas to travel back and forth to Chicago or Madison for 6 months to a year?
- How do you afford oil changes, parking, tolls and auto repairs that come with driving crazy miles?
- How do you make sure the kids at home get fed, make it to school, continue with day to day living while one parent is at the hospital with the patient?
- How does the grass get mowed and the driveway shoveled?
This is where K Cancer Baseball and Softball gets involved! Together, we raise money to support families with these issues. We attend community events like parades and tournaments to let the folks know about the challenges facing our families. We also help support national organizations like Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry, and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society so that they can distribute services in our area.
If you see our tent at a softball tournament or at a local event, stop by and say hi! We’d love to show you how that together, we can make a difference for those in our community who need our support!
